How Claro works

From answering a few questions to receiving cash, food, healthcare, or housing help — here is exactly what happens, step by step.

1

Create a free account

Sign up with just your email. There is no cost, no subscription, and no credit card required — ever. Your information is kept private and is only used to match you with benefits.

Takes about 2 minutes to set up.

2

Fill out the profile questionnaire

Answer questions about yourself: your age, household size, income, housing situation, and a few other topics. We walk you through every question and explain why we are asking.

Most people finish in 5–10 minutes. You can save your progress and come back later — nothing is lost.

3

Claro checks every program

Behind the scenes, Claro runs your profile through 25+ federal and California state benefit programs simultaneously. Today this coverage is most comprehensive for seniors, though many programs apply broadly to other groups as well.

We check programs like SNAP (food), Medi-Cal (health), LIHEAP (utilities), Section 8 (housing), SSI (cash), FAFSA (education), VA benefits, and many more. We are actively expanding support for more groups and additional states.

4

See your personalised benefits dashboard

Your dashboard shows every program you likely qualify for, how much money or coverage you could receive each month, and the current application status of each one.

Benefits are shown with estimated monthly values, application deadlines, and renewal reminders so nothing slips through the cracks.

5

Apply fast with the Claro Chrome Extension

Here is where Claro goes further than any other benefits tool: once you find a program you want to apply for, our free Chrome extension can autofill the application for you using the information already in your profile.

Instead of typing your name, address, income, and household details into form after form, Claro fills it in automatically. You review, confirm, and submit. What used to take hours takes minutes.

6

Update your profile, refresh your results

Life changes. If your income, household, or housing situation changes, just update your Claro profile. Your dashboard refreshes with new eligibility results — and any programs you are newly eligible for appear automatically.

Your previous application dates and notes are always preserved, so you never lose track of where you are in the process.

Your privacy is protected

Claro never shares or sells your personal information. Your profile data is stored securely and is used only to calculate your benefit eligibility. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time.

The Chrome extension only activates when you choose to use it on a benefit application website. It does not track your browsing or send data anywhere except back to your Claro profile to complete the form fields you ask it to fill.
